Since our foundation in 1977 we have continually invested in both personnel and manufacturing machinery. With the combination of CNC and conventional machinery, we are able to offer a very flexible package regardless of batch size. Our versatility allows us to undertake the manufacturing of urgent prototypes, one-off replacement components and continuous production batches. From material procurement through to fine or cosmetic finishing, we can manage the entire manufacturing process and supply you with finished components to your required specification.

We combine highly skilled engineers with the latest CNC milling, turning & machining technology for quality manufactured components. Another key strength at M&B is in the cutting and manufacturing of quality helical, spur & spline precision gears to precise specification.

Employing a culture of investment, we have a comprehensive machine shop that includes 5 axis (simultaneous) and 4 axis Vertical machining centres, CNC lathes with live tooling and a range of conventional metal cutting and grinding machinery that allows us the versatility to handle both large and small batch sizes in a wide range of materials.
Component programming for CNC milling, turning and horizontal grinding can be done either at the machine or offline for maximum efficiency when developing new products.
Owning a comprehensive range of cnc milling machinery allows us the flexibility to cope with both large and small batches across a wide range of material shapes and sizes.
All machines are networked and thus can be programmed on or off-line for maximum efficiency.
Once proven, data is routinely stored for future requirements.
With machine specifications including 5 axis (simultaneous) machining, Renishaw probing (for increased in-cycle accuracy & repeatability to within 0.005mm), Glass scales (for increased accuracy via thermal compensation), high speed spindles, through nose coolant and 4th axis attachments.
A range of straight turning, mill turn and 'y' axis equipped lathes enable us to cope with a vast range of turning requirements.
With bar feeding capacity upto 60mm diameter and billets to a maximum size of 12 inches in diameter, we have machinery to meet most demands.
Equipped with current fanuc programming controls, complex components can be efficiently programmed and produced at one setting.

Need a gear manufacturer to supply a replacement worn or damaged part, or a complete batch of gears or splined shafts?
Our experience and knowledge of gear and spline manufacturing allows us to offer various levels of service.
From cutting gear teeth or splines only, to supplying completed components or kits of completed components.
We will undertake the production of bespoke or replacement items, special purpose gearboxes and other transmission related components.
In situations where no component drawings are available, we will attempt to reverse engineer components from worn samples or assemblies.
Gears are used in a wide range of engineering designs so that power may be transmitted steadily and without slip.
They are also commonly used within mechanical devices where they provide a gear reduction in motorized equipment.
This is important because, often, a small motor spinning very fast can provide enough power for a device, but not enough torque.
For instance, an electric screwdriver has a very large gear reduction because it needs lots of torque to turn screws, bu-t the motor only produces a small amount of torque at a high speed.
