We have a dedicated building maintenance division carrying out works for a leading supermarket covering areas from the Midlands to the North coast of Scotland, as well as various contracts for locally based facilities management companies looking after retail parks, industrial sites and city centre office blocks.

Jim Hastings Limited was established in 1973 by Jim Hastings to service the construction industry, carrying out building and ground works contracts for clients including Local Authorities, the National Coal Board and the Central Electricity Generating Board, amongst others.
After more than 40 years we maintain a strong North East presence in the market place, employing over 30 people, including the next two generations of the family.

The Company specialises in ground works activities including excavation and all associated reinforced concrete works to foundations and floor slabs, underground drainage and hard landscaping including paving, kerbing and surfacing.
Building work projects consisting of refurbishment or extending existing offices or factories to works within chemical production and storage facilities, work in live substations, work within high security data storage facilities and working in public areas of supermarkets and office blocks.

For the last 18 months we have been involved with all aspects of the construction of new 20 kVa and 11 kVa substations and associated transformer bases and bunds in Durham.
We have also undertaken a full ground works scheme including the construction of reinforced pile caps, ground beams, underground drainage, floor slabs, hard standings and roadways to a data centre in Sunderland.
We are now working on a prestigious scheme at Newcastle University comprising of concrete works and hard landscaping to courtyards and roadways.
