Shield Engineering was founded in 1985 specialising in the manufacture of precision engineered components. The company established four main areas of expertise. We are located in Cramlington, Northumberland just north of Newcastle in the north east of England with easy access to the A1.

We machine components in a variety of materials from engineering grade plastics and aluminium to stainless steels, titanium and exotics including Duplex and Super Duplex.

Over the years our customers in the fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector have required our precision engineering ability to problem solve, as a result we have become more involved in the design and manufacture of equipment for production lines, from the handling of the base product through to final packaging.
Customers are under more pressure to reduce product changeover times on production lines, therefore we have developed, designed and modified components and also manufactured "purpose built" units to help enable them to achieve their targets.

Shield Engineering manufactures a range of cutters, spacers, shafts and ancillary equipment to suit all types of industrial shredding machines.
Our facilities enable us to re-engineer and re-design waste management machine components.
Our cutters are CNC machined resulting in a more uniform profile giving an even shredding action, they are hardened and the faces are ground to tight tolerances, spacers are manufactured to the same tolerances resulting in an accurate build-up on the shredder shafts.

We offer a complete Design service from component to full tool design utilising the latest CAD/CAM packages from Delcam.
Our CAD packages enable us to import data from most 2D and 3D systems that can then be analysed for manufacturing.
