Our site boasts some of the best UK manufacturing facilities; climate controlled machine shop with high precision CNC and conventional machinery; 3000 sq ft of general assembly including 500 sq ft ISO class 7 cleanroom; and a very high calibre inspection suite allowing us to measure and verify components to within a micron.
We work very closely with our customers, whether it be R&D - helping to develop new products or re-design old; Purchasing/Logistics - organising and scheduling deliveries of kits or assemblies direct to production line; Or Production - understanding and overcoming technical issues, or fixing a problem before it becomes too costly.

Established in 1953 by Eddie Pope and John Meads, Pope and Meads has been providing engineering services in Hertfordshire for over 60 years.
Even at our inception we were providing precision engineering solutions for scientific, defence and aerospace sectors.
Over the years, we have expanded steadily and are increasingly working in new and high-tech industries, but still retain a close relationship with our customers.
In 2011 we moved to our current premises in Hertford, which significantly increased the capacity of our facilities and provided the potential for further expansion.

Our milling equipment includes 3, 4 and 5 axis CNC milling capabilities, enabling precise component manufacture whilst maintaining cost efficiency.
We have conventional lathes as well as CNC turning including sliding head and fixed head CNC lathes.
These allow us to machine a range of components from the very high precision to general tolerance.
We machine to very fine tolerances and with the use of our CAD/CAM, we are able to manufacture very complex work pieces.
In order to achieve higher tolerances, we have a temperature and humidity controlled machine shop.
We have conventional lathes as well as CNC turning including sliding head and fixed head CNC lathes.
These allow us to machine a range of components from the very high precision to general tolerance.

Our engineers are highly skilled, multi-disciplined and can be deployed on a range of jobs.
Work can include mechanical assembly, testing of brakes and clutches, wiring looms, specialised soldering techniques, programming PCBs, testing and verification of mechanical and electrical assemblies, specialised bonding techniques, shot blasting and spray painting.
We also have a 500 sq ft cleanroom maintained to BSI ISO class 7 standard, divided into two rooms this enables us to operate equipment at different cleanliness levels.
