At Aller Engineering we use a modern Bystronic laser cutting machine, capable of delivering a very fine tolerance and an extremely high quality finish.
Parts may be supplied straight off the laser or put through our parts rumbler, providing a de burred and even surface finish.
Alternatively, we are able to draw parts from scratch, but this can be very time consuming.
Laser cutting is a thermal process used in the processing of sheet metal.
The laser beam is created by the laser source (resonator) using a mixture of inert gasses together with semiconductor excitation modules, that generate the necessary high voltage.

The bending of materials is a procedure for forming a flat workpiece into a three dimensional usable component.
It generally follows the cutting stage in the processing chain of operations and may be used to produce an infinite number of angles including the ability to create safety edges on various materials by using "hemming" or "Dutch folding" tooling.
The workpiece lies on a bottom tool or die, which has a v-shaped opening.
A top tool or punch is forced downward pressing the workpiece into the required angle.
It generally follows the cutting stage in the processing chain of operations and may be used to produce an infinite number of angles including the ability to create safety edges on various materials by using "hemming" or "Dutch folding" tooling.

Corner notching machines are used to cut out a 90 deg section from varying types and thicknesses of sheet metal with a V shaped blade.

This clearance cut can be made in a single operation, the cutting action itself being the same as that of a guillotine, top and bottom hardened steel blades acting against each other to shear the sheet.
A CNC punching machine is basically programmed to move a sheet of metal in an x and y direction so as to accurately position the sheet under the machine's punching ram ready to punch a hole or form.
