Moss Engineering: What we do. During that time I was involved with some fascinating Special purpose machine tool projects from the design stage onwards, and continue to offer a consultancy service in both the areas of design and troubleshooting. Further information can be found in the 'About us' section. Please refer to my industry references for your interest here.
Our wider engineering work has now long been coupled with an on-going love affair with Automotive engineering. It was, however, in the arena of Motorcycle road racing that i gained experience in the tuning and building of 'Scott' motorcycle engines and transmissions, and now offer my services in this area to those for whom only the best is good enough.
Roger Moss spent over thirty years in the Special Purpose machine tools industry as part of the Leicester company 'Moss Machine Tools', with customers in the Automotive, Aerospace, Defence and domestic appliance sectors. The family company, started by his father Frederick Moss in 1946, was internationally reknowned for its insights into new manufacturing solutions and the very high quality of its products.

Services
Re-conditioning rods is not a small job.and it requires so many 'set-ups' that you really have to do a batch.
A Scott connecting rod needs to run squarely on its narrow big end rollers and any deviation from that causes the rollers to want to twist into the tightest side and rub against the adjacent 'roller plate'.
If it's bad enough this ends in overheating, distortion, anealing and bearing surface break-up.
Blue rollers, blue roller plates and blue big ends are quite common to see where misalignment has been introduced.

The main purpose of the exhibition was, of course, to show to a wider public the paintings of Geoffrey Ordish, but there were also on display various photographs and other items belonging to him.
We were welcomed by Geoffrey's son Mark Ordish who explained the workings of his famous father.
Mark still holds all of his father's collection, although some photos are stored at the RCM.
We were also welcomed by Amy Seymour, formerly of the CSM, who is now the Exhibition Organiser at the Museum in Truro.
