Sella-Askus Engineering was founded in 1978 by Peter Ratcliffe and Kieran Burgess in the cellar of a mill in Buxworth, Derbyshire. In the early days, the owners used to say just "ask us" and we will machine it for you. This is where the name originates from and soon after the company was incorporated as Sella-Askus Engineering Ltd. The company 'Sella' made steady progress through the 70's and 80's and as a result moved to much larger premises in Whaley Bridge.
The subsequent acquisition of Whitehough Engineering from Chapel-en-le-Frith further helped the growth of Sella and added much needed machining capacity to cope with increasing demand. The company relocated again, back to Buxworth, near the original mill premises, and continued to offer high quality precision engineering services. In 2009, Sella was purchased by the Precision 21 Group in order to increase their in-house machining capability.
Subsequently Sella was relocated to a modern factory in Oldham, next to the other Precision 21 Group companies, Sterling Sensors and ITIUK.

Designed for use as a parking deterrent, the SELLA-ASKUS Bollard / Security Post can be fitted by just drilling 2 holes into the ground.
Made from zinc sprayed and powder coated steel the SELLA-ASKUS Bollard is strong, robust and weatherproof.
A unique fixing mechanism means that when the two legs are inserted into the base plate and locked together, they cannot be removed, thus creating a formidable deterrent.
When legs are removed the base is strong enough that it can be driven over without causing any damage.

3D Metal printing is a process in which a 3D file of a model is transformed into a metal object by fusing a section of the powder bed in successive layers.
A benefit of this is being able to manufacture complex shapes which otherwise would be impossible to manufacture.
Increases design innovation - Create new ideas, shapes with quick turnaround for a physical part to gauge, look and feel.
Reverse - engineering - Obsolete parts without drawing can now be scanned and reproduced easily.
Sella-Askus have the facility of 3D printing in plastic.
