We are a small company of structural engineers based just outside Chester. Although we do work on industrial and commercial projects the bulk of our work is residential. This includes everything from taking out a wall to major alterations including roof redesigns, new foundations on difficult sites and new build designs. We have had full membership of the Institution of Structural Engineers for over 20 years.

The most likely reason for needing a structural report is when a property is put on the market and a surveyor asks for a second opinion on some aspect of the building's structure.
We always try to ensure that we arrange our visits at times that are convenient to householders or contractors.
Where required we also try to give a fairly good idea beforehand of how long the investigation will take and what we'll be doing.
Our investigations will involve a visual examination of the problem.
Where the problem is in the ground we generally expose the foundations and examine the ground.

Our quotations are based on hourly rates of 102 (85 + VAT) an hour for engineers and 60 (50 + VAT) an hour for technicians.
We do not generally charge for mileage except for surveys over about 45 minutes away.
On larger jobs clients are issued with progress reports and in particular the ongoing costs if the fee is time-based.
We do not charge for printing drawings or calculations.
In emergencies, we can often to do small design jobs within 24 hours (usually excluding weekends) and we may charge an additional 120 (100 + VAT).
