Hi my name is David O'Brien, I have over 30 years experience in the Fireplace & Stove Industry. I specialise in the installation of wood burning & multi-fuel stoves. I also install flue liners for both gas & solid fuel and carry out all building work including plastering, brickwork and skirting, as required. I am a Gas Safe and HETAS approved installation engineer, so you can be sure that my installations are safe and comply with current building regulations.

I am very experienced in all manner of feature fireplaces and I take great pride in all the work undertaken. You can contact me via phone or e-mail. Also refer to my Trustpilot review page below for an insight into my work. You may be assured that all installations are of the highest quality and standard.
Services
I have tried to answer the most common questions that clients ask.
If you find that your questions are not answered please e-mail me or call 07866 265 957 for further advice.
Aspirator- this is wind driven and is used on slow chimneys needing an increase in updraught.
Spark arrester cowl - mainly used on thatch roofs - prevents sparks spilling onto the roof, these must be cleaned at least twice a year.
Stainless steel bird-guard - terracotta finish, ideal for standard installations where a flue liner has already been installed.
Your chimney sweep might tell you that your chimney is fine and doesn't need lining but your Stove Specialist will tell you that it does.
Who is right?
Well, the sweep may well be correct and your chimney is sound, but wrong in saying that it doesn't need lining.
Stoves have special requirements which mean that no self-respecting HETAS registered installer will install into an unlined flue without a very good reason.
HETAS and all manufacturers of quality stoves recommend that the flue serving a multi-fuel or wood-burning stove should be lined as part of the installation process.
I have recently become a registered installer for Manchester Care & Repair.
They are the administrators for the Home Energy Loan Plan (HELP).
This scheme is aimed at home owners that pay council tax to Manchester City Council.
It provides loans for energy efficiency home improvements and includes the installation of solid fuel stoves.
The loan covers all aspects of the work i.e. labour / building work / fireplace / stove / liner etc.
The loans are provided without interest, however they do incur small administration costs.
