Innovation, knowledge and experience are the key drivers behind MTC Engineering (Cambridge) Ltd. Originally formed as Michael Thomas Consultancy in 1989 by Michael Thomas, a chartered civil engineer with extensive experience within Local Authority, Water Authority and Consultancy environments, today MTC Engineering (Cambridge) Ltd employs a well qualified team of engineers, consultants and support staff to focus their experience on the increasingly complex challenges and requirements faced by major site developers.
Growing government pressure to increase the pace of development, reintroduce brownfield sites to use and protect both new and existing development whilst minimising demand upon existing infrastructure and all the while ensuring new development is ever more environmentally sustainable drives the demand for accurate assessment of risk and innovative design solutions in which MTC Engineering (Cambridge) Ltd specialise.

Services
To ensure that all the demands of planning can be achieved it is essential to commission a detailed technical site appraisal to determine the viability of the project, major cost considerations and timescales.
This detail then drives the site negotiations and project profitability forecasts.
MTC has a reputation for solving complex access and drainage constraints whilst maximising site potential and minimising delay in the approvals process.
To facilitate this work MTC uses the latest Computer Aided Design Systems and software packages in conjunction with specially developed 'in-house' programmes to enable the development of accurate and cost effective solutions for even the most demanding and complex challenges whilst avoiding untimely and expensive development delays.

A key planning requirement for every development involves the provision of safe access, whilst dependent upon the scale of development proposed, a complex assessment of the impact upon traffic flows in the immediate vicinity of the site and the main feeder roads and junctions throughout the area may be required, along with the design and incorporation of measures to encourage travel by sustainable means.
MTC has considerable experience in this area and traffic / pedestrian impact studies form part of our standard proposals on all site appraisals.
