A magnetic level gauge involves the use of a permanent magnet sealed inside a closed float whose rise and fall causes the rotation of bi-coloured magnetic rollers or flappers.
The float is situated inside the chamber of the instrument in contact with the process medium and is not able to be viewed from the outside.
The float inside the chamber is coupled to bi-coloured magnetic rollers / flappers installed in an indicating rail which is attached to the outside of the chamber.
The red colour indicates the presence of liquid while the point where the colour is white shows the level of liquid in the vessel.

A weld pad type liquid level gauge is an instrument which is designed to be used where it is not possible or practical to install a conventional reflex / transparent gauge and where there may be solids present in the liquid that would interfere with the operation of a traditional instrument.
This type of gauge is designed so that it can be continuously welded via the chamber directly to the vessel upon which it will be measuring.
The base which is welded can be either flat or radius bottomed to suit the vessel configuration and the glass is almost always reflex type as it is not possible to provide illumination from inside the tank from where the gauge is installed.

Simco liquid level gauges are through life supported by a range of spares which are available for planned maintenance purposes and also for situations where items are accidentally damaged and require replacement.
A small selection of the standard spares offered are listed below however please make direct enquiry should you have any specific requirements which are not shown.
Spare gaskets are available in a range of materials including standard C4430 non asbestos, C4590L graphite laminate, Sigraflex HD graphite laminate and PTFE.

Simco liquid level gauges can be supplied with a range of accessories to suit different types of gauges and the varying services in which they will operate.
The most common / typical types offered are shown in the list below however however please make direct enquiry should you have any specific requirements which are not shown.
For transparent gauges Mica shields offer excellent protection in steam service or for corrosive environments there is the option of installing KEL-F shields.
Direct reading calibrated scales can be provided as an accessory, these are most commonly produced in blue traffolyte with white etched markings which offer excellent visibility and are held to the gauge by stainless steel clips.
