Insight GEO
Whatever the size of your project, appropriate ground investigation, supported by sound geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering principles, minimises the risk of uncertainties and can significantly reduce your design and construction costs. Every project is different - from underlying ground conditions to site history and development proposals.

So although our commitment to each project is always the same our approach is site specific. Careful consideration is given to your project objectives as well as any constraints including logistics, budget and programme. So together we are confident we have an appropriate strategy.

We offer ground investigation services throughout Scotland and the rest of the UK and work with private individuals, developers, structural engineers, multi-disciplinary consulting engineers, architects, specialist contractors and construction companies.Through a combination of experienced staff and approved subcontractors, our services include geotechnical and geoenvironmental ground investigation contracting, as well as geotechnical consultancy, geoenvironmental assessment and contract management support.
Services
Insight GEO was established in 2010 by engineering geologist Judith Dickinson, to provide ground investigation and associated consultancy services of quality and value.
Drawing on 25 years of experience in the UK ground investigation industry, we believe Insight GEO is a fresh, alternative resource with a unique combination of strengths.
At Insight GEO we adhere to industry best practice and are committed to remaining informed and up-to-date with technical developments, new standards and guidelines.
And for the majority of our ground investigation projects, we're involved throughout the investigation process - from scoping and design, through to interpretative reporting.
However, depending on the nature of your site and the stage of development project, you may simply need a Phase 1 Desk Study, or some spoil mounds analysed for waste categorisation.
Alternatively, you may have already designed an investigation and prepared a tender to be priced by a contractor.
Your busy consultancy may welcome extra geotechnical input to cover peaks in workload; or you may prefer to outsource this aspect of your practice on a project-by-project basis when required.
Whatever the size of your project, appropriate ground investigation minimises the risk of uncertainties and can significantly reduce your design and construction costs.
For both geotechnical and geoenvironmental investigations our best practice approach complies with current British Standards and European guidance, as appropriate to the contract.
The site investigation process comprises of preparation, fieldwork, laboratory testing and reporting.
And efficient and effective project management support is provided to guide your investigation smoothly through the whole process.
Previously developed land may be contaminated and this poses risks to human health and the environment.
This needs to be addressed during redevelopment.
A phased geoenvironmental investigation not only complies with best practice, optimising understanding, but also ensures legal compliance; minimising future liabilities and potential remediation costs.
The Phase 1 Desk Study Report collates and reviews a wide variety of site specific data, enabling recommendations for any further investigation phases required to be made in an informed manner.
