Only trust a genuine Startwell starter motor. Our starter motors are designed and assembled in the UK and are not in any way associated with anything else on the market. Please be aware of copycat imitations that are now available, which look exactly the same as the original Startwell starter motor but do not meet our strict Quality Control tests.

Incorporated in 1992, UK based Startwell Engineering is the global leader in the field of mechanical starters (also known as spring starters) for diesel engines.
Our starters are used worldwide in numerous different conditions on an ever increasing range of applications.
Our Starters are self contained units designed to replace electric, pneumatic or hydraulic starting systems on direct injection engines.
Our team offers a wealth of experience to provide a cost effective solution to engine starting while maintaining the highest standards in reliability and safety.
The Mini starter is our latest starter range.
The Mini is suitable for Diesel engines from 0.5 Litre to 2.5 Litre and is available as a clockwise and anti-clockwise model.
Startwell is proud to say the Mini is the first of its kind in the world.
For a small capacity engine a non-electrical backup starter is now available and thus bringing with that all the benefits of mechanical starters.
The Mini is a popular starter and used for life boat engines, portable fuel and water pumps in remote locations, to name a few.
The Heavy Duty Midi is suitable for Diesel engines up to 7.8 Litre and is available as a clockwise and anti-clockwise model.
Startwell's Heavy Duty Midi starter serves engines which are not suitable for the standard Midi range since they have a marginally higher capacity or where cold engine starting is essential.
The Heavy Duty Midi starter is very popular with our client base as they perceived that this range was more powerful, reliable and better value for money than other equivalent starting system in the market.
The Maxi is suitable for Diesel engines up to 10 Litre and is available as a clockwise model.
Startwell is proud to boast the Maxi is the first manually operated starter in the world, to be able to start a Diesel engine over 8 Litre capacity.
Compared to other non electrical starting systems, Startwell's Maxi starter is by far the most economical starter.
The Maxi competes with electrical starting systems and as a result has enticed a large number of shipping companies all over the world.
In the present day, Startwell has an impressive portfolio of shipping clients who have all moved over to using Startwell's Maxi starters in place of hydraulic or pneumatic starting systems.
Startwell's Heavy Duty Maxi starter was developed following the success of Startwell's Maxi starter range.
We redesigned some of the components and using the patented multi rate spring pack we proudly transformed the Maxi starter into a Heavy Duty Maxi starter.
The Heavy Duty Maxi is used in many applications including Caterpillar, Cummins, Detroit, Man, Perkins, Scania and Volvo.
