Project: A two and a half storey replacement dwelling in a sensitive site within St. Ives Conservation Area.
The design would see the historical North gable of the building retained with the remainder replaced by a contemporary interpretation of the existing; maintaining existing sea views as well as providing new ones from a mezzanine viewing platform.
3D lidar scanning technology was used to capture the existing site and immediate surroundings with accuracies of 0.01mm.
This approach was taken due to the complex geometry of the granite outcrop which formed the site as the sensitive nature of the Conservation Area and Grade II listed cottage adjacent.
