Established in 1997, Gilmour Engineering & Industrial Services provides fabrication and metalwork services from workshop facilities in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria. Our managers and engineers have extensive experience in maintenance and project work which enables us to offer advice on solutions to engineering problems taking into account the best practical design, legal requirements and cost effectiveness.

We have experience undertaking and managing construction sites under CDM regulations, acting as Principle Contractor and Subcontractor ensuring maximum safety is achieved and maintained. We have a multi-disciplined workforce of experienced, motivated, highly trained and skilled engineers, who fabricate in the workshop and then erect and install on site, thereby ensuring continuity of the highest manufacturing standards.

As part of our commitment to Health & Safety all of our employees carry current CCNSG Safety Passport cards as well as a range of other training certificates.
Services
We have extensive experience in both construction and engineering projects of varying sizes.
No obligation quotations can be provided from structural engineering or architectural drawings, CAD files or site visits.
Where a design is not apparent, our engineering staff will work with the client to determine the most appropriate solution to suit aesthetics, functionality, legal compliance and budget.
Fabricated items can be delivered in a variety of finishes as required; shot blasted and primed, paint decorated, hot dip galvanized, polyester powder coated, stainless steel or aluminium.
We install all types of roofing and cladding systems including single skin, skylights & composite panelling.
We can provide this as part of a package including a steelwork structure or as a single operation.
Repair and maintenance service for repairing cladding, flashings, gutters, etc which have suffered impact or storm damage.
Repair or replace leaking or broken GRP roof lights that have suffered from UV exposure or storm damage.
We specialise in providing bespoke high quality sheet metal items for all industries including manufacturing, naval, defence, pharmaceutical, and food industries.
Our service is often complimented by subcontracted CNC punching and profiling using latest technology laser cutting, water jet profiling and plasma cutting.
We cover all aspects of sheet metal work from 0.8mm up to 6mm including site measuring, marking out, fabrication, welding and installation as well as maintenance and repair work.
Typical fabrications include: guards, hoppers, trays, square to round transitions, cabinets, canopies, chutes, ductwork and ventilation.
We carry a certificate of registration to BS EN ISO 9001: 2008 accredited by UKAS Quality Management.
We carry out regular internal audits and annual Quality System Review Meetings with annual external audits carried out by Centre for Assessment Ltd.
It is a requirement for all managers at Gilmours to attend the quality meetings ensuring all of the quality management issues are discussed openly.

As mentioned previously all our employees have to carry a current safety passport before becoming part of the team.
Trained to the requirements of the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) under the Client Contractor National Safety Group (CCNSG).
This covers all aspects.
We also have our own first aiders and we hold regular TBT with all staff discussing Health & Safety issues as a top priority.
