We offer design services to all sectors of construction for projects of all sizes. With an expertise in high quality, one off residential projects in the Southeast and an outstanding reputation for commercial and public projects. We are specialists in ground movement and subsidence as well as all aspects of other insurance claims following damage from escape of water, fire, flood, impact and storm.
We act for Architects, Developers, Loss Adjusters, insurance companies, banks and private clients. We are members of the Faculty of Party Wall Surveyors and can provide expert advice on the Party Wall Act 1996. Directors and Consultants are directly involved in our projects, both in the design philosophy and management of the design process resulting in a high standard of engineering and services.
Our clients' requirements are clearly determined at the start, but not fixed; continuing communication between all designers and the client ensures that changing situations are taken into account. Innovative solutions are considered, where appropriate, but untried technologies are implemented only with the clients' cognizance and understanding of the risks involved.

Services
Michael established his practice from home in 1982 and by 1983 had moved into offices in Dorking, Surrey to cater for an increased workload and the necessity to employ his first staff.
As a result of continued expansion, a second office was opened in Sussex in the early 1990's to cater for increasing workloads along the south coast.
Our third office was opened in Tunbridge Wells by merging with John Holden of Durleys in 1999 with the practice at the time being renamed van Klaveren Holden Partnership.

We are happy to accept commissions from the smallest "knock-through", removal of loadbearing walls, chimney breast removal or otherwise right through to high rise multi-storey structures in all materials.
Our designs on large projects wherever possible are undertaken after a consultation with the remainder of the professional team and any appointed contractors to provide the best advice on construction options and a technically correct cost effective solution.

We have extensive experience of working on sites, both within London and outside, adding value to property by the introduction of basements.
This can include deepening an existing Victorian basement which was not built to modern habitable standards, or through the introduction of a totally new basement underneath an existing property.
We have experience in introducing both partial basements, basements over the entire footprint of the house and even basements which occupy the full extent of the site.

Our Civil Engineering team provide support to our Structural Engineering team on a number of the projects we carry out, providing expert advice on below ground drainage and external works, including paving finishes and retaining walls.
We regularly provide advice on flood risks including the production of Flood Risk Assessments and also on the implementation of SUDS recommendations for sustainable drainage.
Where a property has been designated a minimum Code for Sustainable Homes or BREEAM standard, we can produce calculations and statements supporting the application to ensure the maximum number of points can be obtained in the SUR1 and POL 3 categories.
