JDP was founded in 1972 and has developed as a customer-focused practice. We have controlled growth at a sustainable level whereby we can provide our client, of whatever size, with a personal service. This approach has resulted in long-term relationships with occupiers, investors and developers. The majority of our engineers have a back-ground working for contractors before moving into design consultancy.
This provides our practice with skilled engineers who have the experience to provide practical, buildable designs and a good understanding of site safety issues. To complement the skills of our engineering staff, we use design software for mechanical, electrical and lighting design and for thermal modelling. We use AutoCAD for 2D drawing and Revit MEP for 3D drawing and design, with a team ensuring that we are BIM ready.
We aim to understand our client's objectives and how their "business" influences their use of their properties. We aim to work with our client to get the best out of their buildings, from the point of view of both the initial design and the on-going life of the building; to make sure that it will work for the users of the building.

Services
As occupiers seek more efficient use of their space, the M&E services can become a limiting factor.
Through engineered solutions we enable more efficient use of the occupied space.
Furthermore, to comply with or exceed Building Regulation targets, or meet specific BREEAM or LEED requirements, we work with the Architect to provide a design that considers the performance of the building fabric and the efficiency of operation of the mechanical services before considering options for renewable energy.

As a practice of building services engineering consultants, we have a direct impact on the environment both through our designs and the operation of our business.
Our objective is to minimise, or, where possible, eliminate, any environmental impact arising out of both our building services project design and our office procedures.
To assist with this, two of our Engineers have completed the CIBSE Low Carbon Consultant accreditation scheme and take an active part in all projects to ensure that we provide best advice in both achieving Part L requirements and meeting the client's requirements.
