Pineapple Structures
Pineapple Structures is a structural engineering and design consultancy founded by Roger Adams and based in London. We believe in creative design where the art of creating spaces is the essence of what we do. We are comfortable with exploring all options to achieve optimal desired building aesthetics, space and functionality. Our team is able to cover a broad spectrum of project types across a variety of industry sectors.

This includes a strong knowledge of educational buildings. Whatever the type and size of project we strive for excellence, and appreciate the importance of attention to technical detail. Roger graduated with an engineering Honours degree from the University of Manchester in 1990 (part of the Russell Group). He then worked for some well-known design consultancies in the UK and Ireland, before starting Pineapple Structures in 2016.

Roger has worked on a wide range of buildings and projects with international strategic significance, technically complex and award-winning designs, and projects with leading structural innovation.
Services
Pineapple Structures offer a wide range of structural services for a variety of industry sectors, ranging from single wall openings to multi-million-pound refurbishment or new-build developments.
We work directly with developers, contractors, homeowners and architects.
Our goal every time is to meet and exceed the expectations of the client, and to carry out all work to the highest standard possible.
We also enjoy providing assistance to charity and community projects.
Recent clients have included the London Borough of Waltham Forest, the Maria Montessori Institute and All Saints Church, Highams Park.
We have in-depth knowledge of many different types of building construction across London and the UK, and within many different sectors from residential and Listed Buildings through to commercial and retail.
Whatever the size, type, and age of the property, we give the same attention to understanding the existing building construction and condition such that the most efficient solutions for upgrading, extending or altering the property can be achieved.
Our services can be tailored to suit your needs, from simple structural calculations and details on smaller projects for Building Control Approval and construction purposes to staged design drawing information for larger projects to enable accurate pricing and tender as the scheme develops through to construction.
We complete many different types of structural alterations and extensions to residential and commercial properties across London and beyond.
We are able to provide calculations, drawings and details sufficient for Building Control Approval and Construction information, and remain contactable throughout the duration of the project for any queries that may arise.
Depending on the nature and the size of the project we can complete initial concept design sketch plans for discussion with the architect and the client.
We are able to carry out the design of new basements and basements beneath existing buildings.
This incorporates many factors including consideration of temporary works methodology during construction, the impact of ground movements during excavation and to surrounding buildings, methods for achieving the correct grade of water tightness to suit the end-use, and knowledge of the Party Wall Act.
Underpinning schemes are developed to suit the bespoke nature of a basement, or to address damage to a building from nearby trees of poor ground for example.
We are often asked to inspect and report on defects highlighted by building surveyors when undertaking home buyers and full structural inspections.
Our reports are tailored as necessary to the specific defects identified by the surveyors or homeowners.
Typical defects include subsidence, cracking, bowing or leaning walls, sloping floors, roof spread and general deterioration of the structure.
We also regularly carry out re-mortgage surveys of properties where the lender has requested an inspection report by a suitably qualified engineer.
