Holywell Mining is a division of the Holywell Group of Companies Founded in 1965 as a sales agency for Schwarz pit props by David Little, mining engineer and the group chairman.
The comapny continues to be run today by his son Andrew Little.
The comapny rapidly diversified into new products for mine roadways, developing a high level of expertise in materials handling technology culminating in the Microcon 8085, a micro-computer based environmental control system with remote signalling facilities.
Holywell MK2 fines conveyors incorporate numerous special features to provide trouble-free operation at manless transfer points.
Ease of maintenance has been of paramount importance.
Access to replacement parts is excellent and standard BC components are incorporated where possible to reduce the need for special spares inventories.
There are manual and auto-tension models to suit standard belt widths of 36" (900), 42" (1050) and 48" (1200) conveyors.
The equipment can be assembled in increments of 500mm up to 10m to suit all conditions (longer versions to order).
This design isolates the door assembly and supports from the stoppings by incorporating a rugged self-supporting frame.
It is easy to erect and fit and allows integration with stoppings using standard components.
The frame comprises four channel sections with bolted corner joints.
The three hinges on either side can be adjusted axially to control door seal compression.
The top frame member has telescopic arms which are cemented into the roadway sides to anchor the assembly.
The design is well proven and originated in the USA (Jack Kennedy Metal Products & Buildings Inc.).
