Seward Wyon
Since 1981, Seward Wyon Limited has worked throughout the world and has attained considerable experience in the areas of engineering consultancy, structural and mechanical design, fabrication and installation of specialist lifting and cargo handling equipment. Our flexibility, commitment to work and completion on-time record has earned us a first class reputation in providing innovative and cost effective engineering solutions on a commercial and practical basis.

Seward Wyon also specialises in bespoke engineering and design of specialised one-off products for clients including, if required, manufacture of the end product and on-site installation of the product. Recent examples include ship mounted flare booms for the offshore industry and a 250 tonne transformer core build table for the electrical transformer construction industry.

We also specialise in dockside cranes, ship to shore cranes, RTG and RMG repairs, upgrading, refurbishment and on-site maintenance programmes tailored to meet specific client requirements.
Services
Seward Wyon has a strong history of working in the Port and Marine sector.
This proud tradition is fuelled by the fact that the founders of the company, which was created in 1981, originated from the British crane manufacturing and heavy lift industry.
As this once-proud industry declined over many years, more experienced crane engineers became available and were recruited by Seward Wyon to continue working with cranes and lifting equipment.
Seward Wyon Engineers are available to travel at short notice anywhere in the world to assess damage to cranes and equipment for insurance purposes and produce detailed reports, liaise with clients and help reduce costly downtime, mobilise teams of riggers, fitters and welders to carry out temporary repairs or return equipment to full working condition.
Seward Wyon has considerable experience in the refurbishment and modernisation of cargo handling equipment including container cranes, wheel and rail mounted gantry cranes and dockside cranes.
Major benefits of refurbishment include reduced costs and timescales compared to new equipment, client involvement in selection of drives, controls, motors and gearboxes in order to rationalise spare part stockholding and availability.
Testing and overhaul of mechanical and electrical components including motors, gearboxes and brake systems.
Port facilities can sometimes find it difficult keeping up with the demands of the ever-growing size of modern ships.
To help remedy this problem in a cost effective fashion, Seward Wyon offers a service to upgrade and modify any aspect of a mechanical handling system in order to achieve modern day capacity at a fraction of the price of buying new equipment.
All projects of this type are preceded by a feasibility study to establish to what extent a structure can be modified, and still remain within safe limits.
Planned and preventative maintenance programmes can be difficult for customers to achieve as a result of a lack of resources due to sudden increases in turnover and the need to prioritise in other areas.
Seward Wyon can provide full maintenance and support packages, utilising highly trained and experienced personnel.
This service is backed up by complete technical and engineering support and is designed to supplement the client's existing engineering capability.
Crane condition surveys, and thorough inspections to LOLER and BS7121 requirements, are undertaken by our competent qualified engineers.
NDT inspection is completed using UKAS accredited contractors.
Seward Wyon can assist clients with assessments of cranes and equipment, and recommendations prior to purchase, refurbishment or repairs.
Crane damage assessment and reporting for insurers, producing reports for replacement costs for cranes and material handling equipment.
