Founded in 1965, GWF Engineering Ltd has been providing services to industry for over 50 years offering excellence in machining and fabrication solutions to hundreds of satisfied customers from a broad spectrum of industries.
In addition to servicing the more traditional heavy engineering sectors such as Steel, Mining, Power Generation and Petrochemical, we also work innovatively in the Aerospace, Formula 1 Racing and Renewable Energy industries.
The manufacturing facility is based in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire and is close to the UK Motorway network and the Humber Ports for ease of transport of large abnormal loads.
In addition to servicing the more traditional heavy engineering sectors such as Steel, Mining, Power Generation and Petrochemical, we also work innovatively in the Aerospace, Formula 1 Racing and Renewable Energy industries.

The Large Machine Shop is some 750 sq.m (8000 sq.ft) serviced by a 35T overhead travelling crane (EOTC).
There are 4 large Vertical Boring Machines 1 No. 18' VB, 1 No.10' VB and 2 No. 12' VB offering vertical boring services up to 5.5m diameter.
In addition this shop has a Butler Elgamill, Richards 60 Large Horizontal Borer and Radial Arm Drill (fixed & portable).
The Small Machine shop is approximately 470 sq.m (5000 sq.ft) and has a 5T EOTC.
This shop houses a range of small Webster Bennet vertical borers from 3' - 6' along with a 42 TOS Horizontal borer, Radial Arm Drill and a range of conventional lathes.
There are 4 large Vertical Boring Machines 1 No. 18' VB, 1 No.10' VB and 2 No. 12' VB offering vertical boring services up to 5.5m diameter.

The Large fabrication workshop is approximately 800 sq.m (8600 sq.ft) and is serviced by a 40 Tonne EOTC with 5 Tonne auxiliary hoist, and a separate 15 Tonne EOTC.
In addition to providing TIG/MIG/MAG & MMA Welding, we also offer Submerged Arc Welding (SAW).
The large fabrication shop houses a 6m Column & Boom complete with Lincoln Welding Head and Controller, along with numerous welding positioners and rotators.
Pressure vessels and autoclaves up to 6m Diameter and 120 Tonnes have been manufactured in recent years.
In addition to providing TIG/MIG/MAG & MMA Welding, we also offer Submerged Arc Welding (SAW).

We operate a Quality Management System in accordance with BS EN ISO 9001:2015 which is independently audited by Lloyds Register of Quality Assurance.
Training of our workforce is of paramount importance to us and to this end we recruit apprentices in all of our core disciplines ensuring that succession management is planned in line with business requirement.

GWF offers design services covering both general mechanical design and pressure vessel design to PD5500, BS EN13445 & ASME Standards.
We utilise Solidworks 3D and Codex for Design/drafting and can also offer FEA when required.
Pressure Vessels come with full CE Certification to comply with the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED 97/23/EC).
GWF generally employs the services of either Lloyds Register or British Engineering Services (Formerly Royal & Sun Alliance) to carry out the Notified Body role in pressure vessel design and manufacture but is happy to work with any Client preferences which have included Bureau Veritas, TUV and Parsons Brinckerhoffin in the past.
