DC White EC specialise in the design and analysis of mechanical and civil engineering projects, with market-leading expertise in stress, seismic, vibration, thermal, piping analysis and design services. From Aerospace and Defence systems to Nuclear superheaters at Hinkley Point, DC White Engineers have provided insight, analysis and design on a diverse range of engineering projects.

Our experience spans many industries and scenarios including Chemical Plant, Food Processing and Pharma, Aerospace and Defence, Materials Handling including Cranes, Nuclear and Renewable Power, Mining, Civil Engineering and Agriculture. We bring multi-industry knowledge to each new project, with a disciplined approach that reflects our understanding of clients' commercial pressures and timescales.

DC White EC offers independent verification of existing design, and investigates and analyses plant and equipment failure (Failure Analysis). Whilst our toolkit includes FEA (Finite Element Analysis), it is our ability to see the whole engineering picture that sets us apart.
Services
Our wide practical knowledge across many industries, together with a very high level of academic capability within the team, means we can provide robust, tailored solutions for our clients across a wide spectrum of project size and type.
Stress analysis is arguably the most fundamental application in engineering, spanning many eras, industries and ranges of complexity.
It is a mature science with many practitioners and many available tools.
At DC White, we have decades of experience in solving stress-related issues for clients across many industries including Chemical, Nuclear and Process Plant, Aeronautical, Marine and Renewable Energy.

It is a mature science with many practitioners and many available tools.
At DC White, we have decades of experience in solving stress-related issues for clients across many industries including Chemical, Nuclear and Process Plant, Aeronautical, Marine and Renewable Energy.
There are many reasons why clients use us again and again, but perhaps the most important is our ability to combine practical nous, gained from a wide range of real cases, with a high degree of academic insight and the latest powerful software tools.
Material properties are defined by temperature, affecting their stiffness, toughness, work-hardening and ductility.
A changing temperature causes most materials to expand or contract, and when constrained they can experience major thermal stress.
High temperatures combined with stress can cause creep, weakened piping or causing contact and damage of moving parts.
We find that understanding thermal expansion, especially when conflicting materials are used, is consistently neglected by designers, and can catch them out at a very late stage.
Over the years we have gained a wealth of earthquake engineering field experience of what features make components vulnerable so we perform analytical vibration assessments knowing what needs special attention.
An experienced eye alone may be the difference between success and failure.
Subsequent thorough analysis provides the formal justification to enable us to provide an unrivalled structural design service.
Our first pass will be with an experienced Mark 1 eyeball and that alone may make the difference between success and failure.
We have many years experience within the nuclear sector which include analysis of dropped nuclear fuel rods, fuel casks, nuclear lifts, crane boom impacts and seismically induced impacts.
Our analysis will provide detailed insight into the prediction of deformation, buckling, fracture and tensile failure, and form the basis of a safety case or inform modifications and redesign.
We also have many years experience within the nuclear sector which include analysis of dropped nuclear fuel rods, fuel casks, nuclear lifts, crane boom impacts and seismically induced impacts.
