A new No.1N manual windlass, destined for installation on the vessel Maid Of Honour, associated with HMS Hood, now fully restored in Turkey, she has joined the other exhibits at the Rahmy M Koc Museum in Istanbul. We were delighted to make the new windlass for AK 'Ilen'. Six months on from this initial sketch, and the windlass shown in the picture above, was inatalled in time for 'Ilen's' first engagement, at the Baltimore Wooden Boat Festival, held at the end of May in West Cork, Ireland.
Trial installation of bow roller fabrication taking place. This is essential if controlled, repeatable anchor retrieval is to be achieved. The roller geometry is adjusted until the desired result is achieved, then fabrication is completed. Deep Blue Engineering Limited design and make windlasses under the brand name 'Webster's Boat Machinery', ranging from small manual windlasses, through to large powered windlasses for small ships.
We also design and build bespoke equipment for vessels of all kinds.
